As the Boys & Girls Club of Palacios embarks
on their 9th Annual Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser, it is seeking
volunteers and continued support of the community. Remember, “IT’S
FOR THE KIDS!”
The Boys & Girls Club of Palacios is preparing
for there Annual Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser to held May 4th & 5th,
2007. All the excitement begins on Friday, May 4th at
the K.C. Hall with the Fried Fish & Shrimp Pachanga Dinner
from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The cost is $7.00 a plate which
includes Fried Fish & Shrimp, Corn, Red Potatoes, Sausage,
Dirty Rice and Tea.
Registrants will also have an opportunity to
register for any of the following events: Fishing Tournament,
Golf Tournament, B.B.Q. Cook-off, Open Car & Truck
Show, Chihuahua Races, 1K & 5K Run, Grito Contest,
Accordion Showdown, and Cumbia Contest. The fundraiser will
continue on to Railroad Park Amphitheatre where the Emotions
will take the stage at 8:00 p.m. and play until midnight. Pre-sale
tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased from any Palacios High
School student participating in the Scholarship Challenge.
Please join us in supporting these participants in their efforts.
Tickets purchased at the gate will be $7.00.
On Saturday, May 5th, the excitement continues
with the Fishing Tournament beginning at 12:01 a.m. and
the B.B.Q. Cook-off at 6:00 a.m. The Golf
Tournament, Run by the Bay 1K/5K Run, High School Soccer
Tournament will take place at Railroad Park Soccer Fields
will all begin at 8:00 a.m.. Arts & Craft Booths will
begin setting-up along with the Car Show Contestants arriving.
The Parade line-up will begin at 9:30 a.m. The
Parade will route will begin at 1st and South Bay and run
along South Bay Shore Blvd to 8th Street. This year’s
Parade theme is “It’s For the Kids!” We
are inviting area Youth groups to participate in the parade;
as a special thank you for their participation, they will
be able to purchase an Inflatable Carnival Armband at the
pre-sale price of $5.00. Note the hours of operation will
be 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. The Carnival armbands
purchased at the gate will be $10.00. All
youth must be accompanied by an adult.
Railroad Park will host a variety of events including
the Victoria Memorial High School Mariachis performing at
1:30 pm followed by the Ballet Folklorico Dancers at 2:30
pm. Some of the other all day activities you will enjoy
will be: Food Booths, Arts & Crafts Booths, DJ Music
by DJ N-Tense, the Chihuahua Races, Grito Contest, Accordion
Showdown, Cumbia Contest and much more. Award Ceremonies
for all events including the BBQ Cook-off, Car Show, and Fishing
Tournament will awarded through-out the day.
Live entertainment from 8:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. featuring
Festivo & Norma Y Su Sabor Norteno at Railroad Park Amphitheatre
will round out the evening. Presale tickets may be purchased
for $7.00 from any Club member running for the Scholarship
Challenge. Tickets at the gate will be $10.00.
