Greetings!  We are writing you on behalf of the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Palacios to let you know that our 10th Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration Fundraiser is coming up May 2-3.  This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.  This year’s theme is “A Decade of Serving Youth”.  We are excited about our plans and we hope you will want to be a part of this special celebration. 

   The Palacios Club began under the auspices of the Boys and Girls Club of El Campo.  We have now grown into a Club with our own charter and a membership of 725 Palacios area children and youth.  The club is open to all youth between the ages of six and eighteen years old, and our Club is open from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. each Monday through Friday during the school year and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the Summer to allow these children to have a safe, positive place to learn and have fun.  Our members work on school work with tutoring assistance; they also play games, do arts and crafts, learn about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco through our SMART MOVES program, and learn about technology in our computer lab.  We also offer our 2006 Environmental Science National Award-winning Science and Spanish Club.  Our Club also provides soccer and softball leagues for all youth in our area.

   Since the beginning, ten years ago, our primary fundraiser has been held during Cinco de Mayo weekend.  This will be our 10th Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration Fundraiser.  A schedule for all of the events is attached to this letter.  A new location has been added for the Miss Cinco de Mayo Scholarship Pageant, with Little Mr. and Miss Cinco de Mayo, and two dances this year – the Palacios Recreation Center.
             
      We look forward to having your support in raising the $40,000.00 for the Boys & Girls 2008 Summer Program.  Without this fundraiser, the cost to each child that attends the Summer Program is over $200.  It is our hope that we will be able to raise enough funds to make it affordable for all children. Please join us in sponsoring at least $250.00, the cost of one child to the Summer Program.  Remember your contribution is a tax deductible contribution since the Boys & Girls Club of Palacios is a 501(c)(3) organization.  Attached you will find the different levels of sponsorship. Please, give any amount you feel comfortable with and remember “It’s for the Kids’.
